Income & Tax Calculator

The Australian income tax calculator provides an estimate of income tax payable, Medicare Levy, and take-home pay based on your gross annual income. Understanding your tax liability helps with financial planning, salary negotiation, and assessing the after-tax impact of income changes.

Australian income tax rates for 2025-26 apply following the Stage 3 tax cuts implemented from 1 July 2024. The new rates provide greater relief to middle income earners, with a new 16 percent rate applying to income between $18,201 and $45,000.

The Medicare Levy of 2 percent applies to most taxable incomes above the low-income threshold, funding the Medicare universal health insurance system. The Medicare Levy Surcharge applies to singles earning above $93,000 without adequate private hospital cover.

The Low Income Tax Offset reduces the amount of tax payable for individuals with taxable income below $66,667, phasing out progressively above $37,500. This offset effectively raises the tax-free threshold for eligible individuals.

Tax calculations are based on current ATO tax rates and thresholds for 2025-26. Calculations are estimates only and do not account for individual circumstances including investment income, deductions, or other factors that affect final tax liability.
